Jeff Hornacek: Williams has a rare combination of explosiveness, scoring instincts, and a high basketball IQ. His ability to attack the basket, finish creatively, and also knock down perimeter shots makes him a very difficult matchup. You can see the confidence growing with each game, which is scary for the rest of the league.
moderator: The Thunder’s defence looked stifling as well, forcing 19 turnovers from Miami. How notable is defensive intensity to their success?
Jeff Hornacek: Defense wins championships, and the Thunder are buying into that beliefs.They’re active, disruptive, and they communicate well on that end of the floor. Coach Daigneault deserves a lot of credit for instilling that defensive mindset in this young team.
moderator: Miami was missing Jimmy Butler due to illness, and Bam Adebayo briefly left the game with an eye injury. Do you think those absences significantly impacted the game’s outcome?
Jeff Hornacek: Injuries are a part of the game. While those absences certainly hurt Miami, I think the thunder were simply the better team on that night. They played with more energy, attacked the basket relentlessly, and capitalized on Miami’s mistakes.
Moderator: Looking ahead, do you see the Thunder as legitimate contenders for the NBA championship this year?
Jeff Hornacek: They’ve definitely got the talent and potential to make a deep playoff run. The Western Conference is incredibly competitive, but if the Thunder continue to play with this level of intensity and consistency, they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with.
