Wirges. The inclusive sports festival “Sport connects”, which took place in Urmitz for the 13th time, is a unique event that offers sporting activities for people with disabilities. On April 21st, “DU bist WIR e. V.”, an association from the Westerwald, also accepted the invitation with a small group of young people with disabilities.
Whether judo, handball, athletics, table tennis, gymnastics or football – each of the almost 150 participants was able to pursue their sporting interests and demonstrate their skills on this day. After a joint warm-up, the athletes began training in their chosen discipline. At lunchtime they proudly presented their skills and competed in exciting team competitions to thunderous applause from the spectators.
A special highlight of the event was the singing workshop with the musician, songwriter and composer “ENKELSON” from Düsseldorf. Under his motto “Connecting people” he captivated both the athletes and the spectators with his musical spell.
