Victor Wembanyama has suffered a sprain to his right ankle that will mean he will be out for a few days. The San Antonio Spurs have already ruled out the presence of rookie in tonight’s duel against the Sacramento Kings, and it is likely that he could miss some more to avoid risks.
Apparently, the Frenchman suffered this injury during the second quarter of the clash against the Houston Rockets, which forced him to be substituted momentarily. However, he managed to return to the court and play much of the second half, which may serve as proof that his condition is not particularly serious. However, with nothing at stake, it would make no sense for the Texans to take a risk with their emerging star, which is why they will rest him tonight.
Wembanyama spent a stretch of the season with a minutes restriction to avoid risks, and since this has been eliminated he is showing a terrifying dominance for the rest of the NBA. In 2024, he is averaging 22.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.8 blocks, having one of the most amazing rookie seasons in memory and overtaking Chet Holmgren in the race to be Rookie of the Year . His development has reached such a point that many believe that the Spurs should start trying to build a winning project around him, since many see him ready to be part of a competitive team and do not believe it is necessary to waste more time on reconstructions.
