Jorge Bonifacio is transferred to the Giants in exchange for Steven Moya

SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORIS. – The Gigantes del Cibao acquire the veteran player Jorge Bonifacio in a negotiation carried out on the morning of this Tuesday, February 22 with the Tigres del Licey for Steven Moya.

Moya has six seasons of experience in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, all with the Toros del Este. He was signed as a free agent in May 2023 by the Giants and loaned to the Cañeros de Los Mochis, where he participated in 18 games.

The information was released by General Manager Luis Urueta, who expressed his satisfaction with Bonifacio’s arrival and took the opportunity to thank Moya.

In the Majors:

Bonifacio has played in 5 seasons with the Kansas Royals and Philadelphia Phillies where he has an avg.242 record with 23 HR, 85 RBIs, 37 doubles and an OBP of .312

This year Bonifacio will be working with the Olmecs of Tabasco in Mexico.

In the change, Tigres del Licey received Steven Moya, a 32-year-old outfielder, drafted by Toros del Este in round 7 (pick #42) of the 2011 rookie draft, debuting that same year and where he played his six seasons in LIDOM.
