The pieces are falling into place for the 43rd edition of the Orange Alouette volleyball tournament in Sept-Îles. While registrations have been underway since January 22, the organization announces the identity of the person who will occupy the honorary presidency for its 2024 meeting, on the calendar from May 2 to 5.
Coach, administrator and technical director at the Sept-Îles Judo Academy for 20 years, David Beaudin is the choice of the organizing committee. Professionally, he has been the general director of Cégep de Sept-Îles since March 2022.
“David has a remarkable history. He has been involved in sports development for 20 years. And at the professional level, it is through his commitment to the community. It’s an honor that we had to do him,” underlines the president of the Tournament, Jeannot Vich.
The Orange Alouette Tournament has also relied on the Sept-Îles Judo Academy for almost ten years. Several of the judokas and their parents volunteer their time during the event in May to monitor the platforms. In return, the organization contributes with a grant.
David Beaudin happily accepts the honor, even if he does not devote his time to receive it in return.
“This kind of honor makes me uncomfortable, but it’s a source of pride that people recognize my involvement,” he said.
He finds it interesting that the Orange Alouette Tournament not only reinvests in volleyball, but also helps other clubs with scholarships.
