Aprilia Triumphs in Africa Eco Race 2024: A New Era for Motorcycle Rallies?

I congratulations for this success must be given to Jacopo Cerutti, who knew how to manage his advantage very well from the first day of the race and managed to keep up with two great riders of the caliber of Alessandro Botturi and Pol Tarres. But compliments must also be paid to Apriliato the entire racing department and to the GCorse of the Guareschi brothers, who put their soul into ensuring that the Tuareg, at its first attempt, managed to win, in a big way, the Africa Eco Race 2024, one of the most challenging in the world. Thanks to the “Back to Africa” project, launched less than a year ago precisely to bring the Aprilia brand back to the great African raids. A success like this, which comes just 12 months after the project was born, is the seal of guarantee on a top-notch working group! We remind you that the other Aprilia Tuareg, that of Montanari Francesco, also reached the final finish line and finished the race in eighth position.

The Tuareg developed for rally raids, created in collaboration with GCorse, was born on the technical basis of the motorcycle which, derived from the series, triumphed on its debut in the 2023 Italian Motorally Championship in the G-1000 class, with Jacopo Cerutti, but is equipped with someone equipment designed to best face the desert. Among other things, with an additional tank, Öhlins by Andreani suspension, complete SC Project titanium exhaust and specific Sprint Filter air filter. Dominating the Africa Eco Race, Aprilia has thus returned to plowing through mythical places and routes, those of the historic African Dakar, bringing to mind the successful experience of the latest participations of the Noale manufacturer (last Italian motorcycle to win at the Dakar!) at most famous rally raid in the world, in the three-year period 2010-2012.

This Africa Eco Race will be remembered, not only for the amazing success for Aprilia on its first attempt, also like the redemption of the twin-cylinder bikes. The single cylinders, in fact, are literally sunk in the sand. The first mono in the general classification is in fact Alexandre Vaudan’s KTM, which finishes in fourth position, behind Cerutti’s Tuareg and the Yamaha Ténéré of Botturi and Tarres, with a delay of 4h29’50”. Could Aprilia’s victory at this Africa Eco Race pave the way for a new dimension of motorcycle rallies?
