Australia has reached the semi-finals of the Davis Cup. Last year’s finalists beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the tournament held in Malaga on Wednesday.
The doubles Matthew Ebden/Max Purcell made the decision with a 6:4 7:5 against Jiri Lehecka/Adam Pavlasek. Previously, Tomas Machac celebrated with 6:4 7:5 against Jordan Thompson and Alex de Minaur equalized with 4:6 7:6 (7/2) 7:5 against Lehecka.

The three-time Davis Cup champions Czech Republic are out of the race, as is Canada. The defending champions lost out to Finland on Tuesday. The Finns will now face Australia in the fight for a place in the final.
