A serious road accident occurred this morning at 8.30 at the crossroads between via Appia Nuova and via Sebastiano Silvestri, near the 3 traffic lights.
A refrigerated truck driven by a 40-year-old Hungarian citizen, while turning left coming from Velletri, towards via G. Di Vittorio (according to a first reconstruction of the facts), hit a 50-year-old cyclist from Colleferro coming in the opposite direction (both probably had the green light). He was with a small group of other lovers of the Castelli mountain bike ride, all from the Castelli area, between Velletri, Lariano, Valmontone and Colleferro.
The cyclist, who came from the square of Genzano towards Velletri, was thrown after the collision with the truck several meters away and suffered trauma and serious injuries, falling headlong to the ground. He was transported in red code to the Castelli hospital from 118, called by passers-by, the local police patrol from Genzano arrived on the spot for the investigations and findings of the case.
The bicycle has been removed from the Genzano judicial deposit roadway.
