“The experience of CM2 students from the Massabielle school and those of a 3rd grade class from the Peyramale/Saint-Joseph college, around the practice of judo, is an enriching experience.
Judo is “something other than a sport”: if, as in many sporting practices, the efficiency of the learner is sought, this is, here, closely intertwined with the structuring place of his partner/opponent who becomes the through which progress is possible. The progress of one reflecting on the progress of others.
“Mutual aid and mutual prosperity” is a goal dear to the founder of judo, Kano Jigoro. It was therefore the guiding thread of this sponsorship by the 3rd grade students, strong in the skills acquired during a judo sequence carried out in EPS.
It was an opportunity for the youngest to test their combativeness through their first arranged fights, and their first acquisitions, allowing them to “do with” their partner’s intention of victory. It was a question here, for them, while “playing”, of acquiring and/or mobilizing resources to face the obstacle represented by the one who projects or immobilizes.
The “big ones”, they knew how to take advantage of the enthusiasm of their students to showcase their skills which go beyond the sole framework of judo. They showed themselves to be enterprising, attentive to the productions of the youngest, they spoke, tried to help them, to make them benefit from their knowledge, to direct their progress in a differentiated way, they took a position of manager while remaining peers…”
