Míchel: “Our best version must serve us to win”

Despite the fact that during the week everything seemed to be good news for Real Sociedad with the recoveries of Ramon Terrats, Yangel Herrera, Cristhian Stuani and Iván Martín, yesterday Míchel confirmed that he will not be able to count on Samu Saiz today due to a heel problem and that Reinier he will be out for a month due to a muscle injury. The coach of Girona FC, however, is optimistic about the match and is confident of winning. “It’s a good test for us. Real Sociedad is a great team,” he stressed. Minimizing mistakes, improving and increasing the number of completions and leaving the goal to zero for the first time are three of the goals that the Madrid player has set himself to bring victory to the fans again. “We play for them”, he remembered.

“It is very important to finish in the best way. Yet so is doing more. I mean against Betis we were in the opposite field for a long time and only had nine shots. We need to do more in this regard. Also to leave the goal to zero. The team has competed very well in these six games, but we have always conceded goals. It is a factor that we must improve. Also to avoid mistakes, obviously, although in football there are always some. We talked about it during these weeks.”

“He is a very young player and we need the best version of him. He must be calm. We don’t depend on him alone. We are a team and he has to do his job. The goals with the U21 national team will do him very well, but for us it would be better if he scored with Girona. He is calm and little by little we will see his best version».

“A very difficult match awaits us, but our best version is enough to win and I think it will be like that. Real Sociedad is an equal in attack and defense. The pressure they exert is very good. They have a very advanced defensive line and it is a team that recovers a lot of balls in the opposite field. We will have to go out with the ball very well, without blowing balls up. It is a very difficult test for us. I really like Real in every way, as a club, team, technical staff… I think it’s a team to watch. We want to improve in every way and he is an example”.

“It’s very different to follow the game from above. It will be a big problem for me. However, the second coach, Salva (Fúnez), will do very well and I am very calm in this regard. I just ask to be able to talk to the referees more calmly and without there having to be sanctions of this type. For me it’s a big problem not being able to be with my players. It’s complicated to help the team from above, but it’s my job.”

“It doesn’t scare us. It’s our league and we have to play against all the teams in the category. It’s a privilege to do that and the team to be ready to compete against everyone. Doing it in front of our fans is the most important thing. We play for them.”
