The municipality of Horw is awarding its 2026 recognition prize, valued at 10’000 francs, to theater author, actor, and cultural mediator Christoph Fellmann, Luzerner Zeitung reported. Municipal officials stated that Fellmann has made a name for himself far beyond the region through his versatile cultural work.
Born in Horw in 1970, Fellmann initially worked as a journalist for many years following his studies in history and political science. Today, his primary focus centers on writing and producing theater. Between 2003 and 2015, he significantly shaped the work of the Zwischenbühne Horw, where he crafted stage adaptations of classic children’s literature, including Momo, Peter Pan, and The Snow Queen.
Nau.ch noted that Fellmann’s early unearned engagement laid the groundwork for his professional career. The 56-year-old has since written more than 25 plays, with works staged at venues such as the Theater am Hechtplatz in Zurich, the Kleintheater Luzern, and the Landschaftstheater Ballenberg, as detailed by regional reports.
Fellmann’s career has earned multiple honors over the decades. In 2009, he received the recognition prize from the city of Luzern for his “Theater Aeternam” project, followed in 2011 by the Central Switzerland Theater Text Prize for his play I Feel Like God and I Wish I Was, as reported by nau.ch. Alongside his writing, he performs on stage and before the camera while also organizing cultural series, including “Die Predigt” at the Peterskapelle and the “Aha – Festival für Wissen.”
How Horw Chose the 2026 Laureate
The arts and culture commission of Horw selected Fellmann to honor his long-standing commitment to regional theater and the broader arts. The prize money totals 10,000 Swiss francs, an allocation confirmed across local reporting.

Official presentation of the award is scheduled to take place on January 1, 2027, during the municipality’s traditional New Year’s apéritif, as verified by municipal announcements.
