The South Korean women’s national basketball team will receive financial rewards from the Women’s Korean Basketball League following their gold medal victory at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, according to reports published by Ilgan Sports.
Board Approves 150 Million Won Payout
The Women’s Korean Basketball League announced the incentive during its 30th term, 3rd board of directors meeting held at the Dalgebi Conference House in Seoul. League officials confirmed that the total sum of 150 million won will be split between the five-on-five senior squad that claimed the gold medal and the 3×3 national team that secured a bronze medal at the regional games.
“We decided through the board of directors to award prize money to the national athletic delegation who rewarded the public’s cheers with excellent results despite difficult conditions,” a league representative said, thanking fans for their sustained support of the women’s game.
Twelve-Year Wait Ends in Nagoya Final
Coached by head coach Park Soo-ho, the standard national team secured the gold medal by defeating Japan in the final match of the tournament. The victory marks the first time South Korea has won the women’s basketball gold medal at the Asian Games in 12 years, since the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

The achievement arrived alongside a gold medal performance by the men’s national basketball team, a pairing that sports observers have characterized as the dawn of a golden era for the sport in the country.
Historic Bronze for 3×3 Squad
The 3×3 women’s national team, led by head coach Jeon Byung-jun, added to the medal tally by capturing a bronze medal. The podium finish represents the first time a South Korean women’s 3×3 basketball team has medaled at the Asian Games since the discipline was adopted as an official medal event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games.

League structure changes will expand the upcoming regular campaign to a seven-round, 105-game schedule. Teams completed their preseason preparations at the 2026 KB Kookmin Bank Park Shin-ja Cup, which concluded on September 11 with Asan Ouri Bank finishing as runners-up and Incheon Shinhan Bank taking third place.
