Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract extension on Wednesday, securing his long-term future with the franchise through the 2030-31 season. Basket USA reported that the deal includes four years of full guarantees and removes the possibility of restricted free agency in the summer of 2027. Selected 19th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Santa Clara, Podziemski has steadily earned a trusted role in head coach Steve Kerr’s rotation.
Five-Year Extension Keeps Guard in Golden State Through 2031
The agreement ties Podziemski to the Warriors well beyond their current veteran core. While the total value reaches $110 million, the structure ensures the organization’s commitment to the 23-year-old as a foundational piece for the post-Stephen Curry and Draymond Green era. Podziemski expressed gratitude toward the front office for making an early investment in his career.

“I am obviously very grateful for the situation in which I find myself,” Podziemski said, according to the Basket USA report. “Many people have contributed to my success. I am grateful to the franchise for taking this gamble on me and wanting to keep me for the future.”
Family First and a Nine-Year Journey to the NBA
Despite the massive financial shift, Podziemski delegated the negotiations entirely to his agent, Bill Duffy. He instructed his representative to handle the discussions without interrupting his daily basketball routine until a concrete proposal materialized on the table. When the final numbers arrived, his immediate focus centered on his relatives.
“The most important thing is that I can now take care of my family forever, and I hope this will also benefit future generations,” Podziemski said. Before signing the paperwork, he organized a video conference with his parents, grandfather, uncles, and aunts to share the news.
The milestone marked the end of a rapid ascension that began late in his athletic development. Podziemski did not play basketball seriously until age 14, having spent his early years focused on baseball. Looking back on nine years of athletic commitment, he recalled a promise made to his parents when he first asked to drop baseball: that he would reach the NBA, followed by a guarantee that he would secure a second contract.
Securing a Long-Term Role Under Steve Kerr
Within the locker room, the extension validates Podziemski’s steady climb within Golden State’s rotation. Asked how the franchise plans to navigate the eventual departure of its veteran leaders, Podziemski pointed to organizational culture and collective accountability rather than leaning solely on individual pressure.

“I believe in our competitive spirit,” Podziemski said. “We are building progressively, year after year, with new players and young guys. Each of us believes in his abilities. When you have this confidence, toughness, and you care more about the process than the rest, the results generally end up turning in your favor.”
Rather than viewing the contract as a vindication against external critics or doubters, the young guard emphasized daily consistency. He intends to match the organization’s financial commitment with elevated production on the floor every night.
“They want me to stay here. So I have to return the favor,” Podziemski said. “They place their trust in me, and I have to play that way every night.”
