[Vincenzo Montella’s](https://transfermarkt.com.tr/vincenzo-montelladan-duygusal-veda/view/news/488746) tenure as head coach of the Turkey national football team has officially ended, with the Italian manager releasing an emotional farewell message confirming his departure.
## Departing the Ay-Yıldızlı Bench After Three Years
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced on a Friday that it had parted ways with [Vincenzo Montella](https://fanatik.com.tr/turkiye/montelladan-turkiyeye-duygusal-veda-benim-icin-buyuk-bir-onurdu-2640580) following a three-year run leading the A National Team. In a widely circulated social media statement, Montella reflected on his time in charge, emphasizing that his tenure delivered historic milestones and built an enduring bond with the squad, players, and supporters.
“Her güzel hikâyenin bir sonu vardır ancak bazı yolculuklar, futbolun çok ötesinde izler bırakır,” Montella wrote in his farewell message, translated from Turkish as, “Every beautiful story has an end, but some journeys leave marks far beyond football. Being the head coach of the Turkey National Team was a great honor for me.”

## Acknowledgments and Institutional Thanks
Montella directed gratitude toward several figures who shaped his time at the helm of Turkish football, beginning with the federation leadership. He specifically thanked former president Mehmet Büyükekşi and his administrative team for believing in him at the start of his journey, while also expressing appreciation to current TFF President İbrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu for subsequent trust, as detailed by Fanatik.
The Italian coach reserved particular praise for his players, noting that the numerous affectionate messages he received from them after his departure confirmed the strength of their relationship. He also acknowledged the endless efforts of his technical staff and working colleagues, alongside supporters worldwide whose passionate backing defined his tenure.

## Contrasting Coaching Speculation and TFF Succession Planning
While Montella bids farewell to the squad, the TFF has opened a wide search for his successor ahead of upcoming international commitments. Hürriyet reported that the federation’s board is evaluating up to six candidates, split between domestic and international options, with the primary objective of uniting Turkish football behind a universally recognized figure.
Among domestic contenders, Shakhtar Donetsk manager Arda Turan emerged as a primary focus for the federation, according to Sözcü Gazetesi. Reports indicated that Turan flew to Istanbul following Shakhtar’s 3-0 victory over Veres in the Ukrainian Premier League to meet with TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. However, Hürriyet noted that Turan may prefer to continue his club career in major European leagues for now, leaving the federation to weigh alternatives alongside former national team bosses and prominent foreign coaches like Julian Nagelsmann and Didier Deschamps.
