The newly renovated Villaggio del Sole football pitch in Vicenza will officially open on Saturday, October 24, 2026, marking the completion of an inclusive community sports space developed under the Cariverona “Sport and Culture to Include” 2025 grant program.
The revitalization project, operating under the broader community initiative “Ci vuole un Villaggio,” transforms the parish grounds at the Opere Parrocchiali del Villaggio del Sole into a multi-sport venue. The existing pitch has been resurfaced and integrated infrastructure for sports modalities established through training programs for tutors.
Mini-Pitch Opens with Mural Workshop and Project Briefing
Festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. local time on October 24, 2026, with the opening of the mini-pitch. Antonio and Giacomo from the JEOS Association will lead a collaborative mural-painting workshop alongside neighborhood youth to decorate the surrounding walls.
At 4:00 p.m., representatives from Piccionaia Cooperativa Sociale—the project’s lead organization—will detail the participatory development process. That briefing will outline contributions from Vicenza’s Istituto Comprensivo 10, the municipal administration of Vicenza, Sintesi APS, the Bertoliana Civic Library, EISI, Ipab Minori, the JEOS Association, and Neighborhood Council 7.
Organizers will also unveil details regarding upcoming community workshops. The afternoon concludes at 5:30 p.m. with a celebratory pizza gathering hosted for participating youths.
Cariverona Grant Funds Inclusive Sports and Arts Hub
The initiative transforms parish land into an accessible hub for physical activity and artistic expression. By combining infrastructural updates—such as resurfacing the pitch—with structured tutoring for inclusive athletics, the project bridges recreational play and social integration.
Funding from the Cariverona “Sport and Culture to Include” 2025 grant program underpins these efforts, ensuring that schools, municipal agencies, and local third-sector cooperatives maintain a coordinated approach to neighborhood youth programming.
