Lotte Giants outfielder sets new hit record in South Korea
At the conclusion of the regular season, switch-hitting outfielder Víctor Reyes secured the KBO hit title with 211 indiscutibles, surpassing his previous personal best of 202 hits from his 2024 debut season and his 167 hits recorded in 2025. The production pushed him past the milestone of 600 total hits during his career in the Asian circuit.
Reyes played in all 144 games of the regular season schedule, marking the third time in his career that he has appeared in every game of a full schedule. He finished as the league runner-up in batting average at .363, improving upon his .352 average in 2024 and .326 in 2025.
Late-season surge secures the batting crown
Reyes secured the hitting title during a strong finish to the campaign. Over his final nine games of the regular season, he batted .421 by going 16-for-38 with four extra-base hits and five runs batted in. His plate discipline remained a key factor throughout the year as he struck out only 65 times in 636 plate appearances, resulting in a strikeout rate of 10.2%.
The race for the hit title went down to the final stretch of the regular season. Won-jun Choi of the KT Wiz finished second in the category with 208 hits, also surpassing the previous benchmark held by Reyes. Choi led the league in doubles with 41, while Reyes finished second with 38. Reyes previously led the KBO in doubles during the 2024 and 2025 seasons with 40 and 44 respectively.
Power and offensive production metrics
Beyond his contact numbers, Reyes established a new personal career high in South Korea by hitting 18 home runs. He also accumulated 307 total bases to place sixth overall in that category, following totals of 293 total bases in his first year and 272 in his second season.
Reyes recorded a .937 on-base plus slugging percentage during the regular season, ranking fifth in the league. That figure improved upon his .904 OPS from 2024 and .861 mark from 2025, both of which placed ninth in the KBO during those respective campaigns.
Records show Reyes has maintained a batting average above .320 in each of his three seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization.
