Veltex Shizuoka announces one-day internship program for students

Veltex Shizuoka announced a one-day internship program for university and vocational students inside Konohana Arena during their upcoming B.League home games, offering participants a firsthand look at professional sports operations behind the scenes.

Who is Eligible for the Veltex Shizuoka Internship

The program is open to undergraduate and vocational students regardless of academic major or year, and basketball knowledge or prior experience is not required. High school students may also apply upon consultation. Veltex Shizuoka is capping participation at six to ten students per match day across six selected home fixtures running from October through December.

Selected applicants will not receive financial compensation or travel expense reimbursement for the unpaid experiential program. However, the club provides an official home game viewing ticket and a complimentary bento lunchbox for each participating student on their designated day.

B.League Home Fixtures Take Place at Konohana Arena

The program runs during six B.League home fixtures at Konohana Arena in Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City. Participants select one specific date to attend:

  • October 24 against Ehime Orange Vikings
  • October 25 against Ehime Orange Vikings
  • November 28 against Fukui Blowinds
  • November 29 against Fukui Blowinds
  • December 19 against Tryhoop Okayama
  • December 20 against Tryhoop Okayama

Daily Schedule and Arena Operations

Participants arrive on-site at Konohana Arena at 7:45 a.m. for a morning schedule that begins with an operations staff meeting and a corporate orientation detailing the club’s business model and organizational goals. Before doors open to the public, students take part in structured workshops and group discussions, presenting ideas that the club uses as practical evaluation material.

The morning session also features an arena walk-through, allowing interns to inspect department roles before public admission begins. When gates open, students transition to customer-facing duties, assisting with ticket scanning at the gates and managing spectator booths.

During the 14:05 tip-off, interns watch the game from reserved seating while retaining opportunities to speak with off-duty club personnel. The program concludes around 18:00 following a debriefing session where students share daily reflections and receive information regarding longer-term internship opportunities with the organization.

Application and Requirements

Applicants must complete an online application form requiring approximately five minutes to finish. Accepted participants must bring indoor athletic shoes, a notebook, writing instruments, and cold-weather clothing while adhering to a dress code of practical, modest attire.
