Standings Implications in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League
With four wins in as many outings, VEF Rīga sits atop the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League standings. Meanwhile, BK Liepāja occupies the basement of the table after dropping its first three fixtures of the campaign. The competition features a diverse cross-border lineup. Latvia is represented this season by Latvijas Universitāte, Liepāja, Ogre, Rīgas ekselences juniori, Rīgas zeļļi, Valmiera Glass/Vidzemes Augstskola, Ventspils, and VEF Rīga. Estonia’s contingent includes Keilas Basket, Tallinas Bigbank/Kalev, Keila, Parnu, Tallinas TalTech/Alexela, Tartu Universitāte/Maks & Moorits, and Viimsi.
The regular season requires teams to play two rounds. The top eight clubs will advance to the quarterfinals. The postseason race will culminate in a championship game scheduled for April 10, 2027, preceded by the bronze-medal match on April 9, 2027. The cross-border venture uniting the top men’s basketball clubs of Latvia and Estonia first tipped off during the 2019 season with 15 participating teams, where Ventspils captured the first title in the Final Four. Valmiera Glass/Vidzemes Augstskola claimed the championship last season.
