The 2025/2026 indoor archery season in the Community of Madrid officially begins on October 24, 2026, as the Plaza de Toros de La Candelaria in Valdemorillo hosts the Trofeo Arqueros de Valdemorillo. The event serves as the opening stage of the regional indoor league, the Liga FMTA de Sala, drawing approximately 160 competitors ranging from youth to veteran categories.
Competition Schedule at La Candelaria
The tournament is split into two distinct sessions to accommodate the full field of participants. Athletes are scheduled to begin with equipment checks and warm-ups at 09:00, with official shooting commencing at 09:30. The morning session will focus on the instinctive, longbow, barebow, and novice divisions for both men and women.
The afternoon session is set for 15:30, featuring recurve and compound bow classifications. These divisions include competitors across all age brackets: under-14, cadet, junior, senior, and veteran. Following the conclusion of the afternoon rounds, local authorities will preside over the trophy presentation ceremony to mark the end of the opening meet.
Registration and Eligibility Requirements
Participation in the tournament is restricted to archers who hold a national license approved by the Madrid Archery Federation (Federación Madrileña de Tiro con Arco). According to organizers, athletes from other regional federations may be permitted to compete, provided there is available space and the entry meets the criteria established by the Royal Spanish Archery Federation (Real Federación Española de Tiro con Arco).
The deadline to complete all formal registration requirements for the Valdemorillo event is 23:59 on October 18. Once the window closes, organizers will finalize the heat structures for the competition day.
Local Interest in Archery
Valdemorillo’s municipal sports department has highlighted the growth of the sport within the town. Eva Ruiz, the councilor for sports, noted that the high number of participants in the municipal school’s current archery program mirrors the enthusiasm seen for the regional league’s return to the Plaza de Toros.
“As in previous editions, we encourage followers to track the start of this regional indoor archery league, a discipline that already sparks interest in Valdemorillo judging by the good number of registrants the municipal school has this term,” Ruiz said.
Public Access and Tournament Facilities
The La Candelaria venue will be open to the public throughout the duration of the tournament. Spectators are invited to attend the event free of charge to watch the opening stage of the 2025/2026 regional circuit. The event remains the premier fixture for archers in the Community of Madrid as they begin their quest for the season’s regional titles.
