More than 7,500 students from 80 schools across the Region of Murcia will fill the stands of the Palacio de los Deportes on Monday, November 2, for the V edition of El Partido del Recreo, following an official presentation.
Ages of the attendees span from 8 to 18 years old, transforming the arena into an educational and sporting showcase hosted by UCAM Murcia CB. The event begins at 11:00 in Murcia, featuring first-team players interacting directly with students alongside games, contests, music, and dance performances.
Presentation Details And Institutional Backing
Juan Pablo Mendoza, Director Creativo UCAM Murcia CB, opened the official presentation by addressing a recent railway accident in Urda, Toledo. “In the name of the president and the university, we send our condolences to the deceased,” Mendoza said. “Hopefully, there will be no more fatalities from what has happened so far this morning.”

Shifting focus to the upcoming arena event, Mendoza detailed the philosophy behind the student gathering. “This match is for the youngest ones to enjoy the team, and also to imitate them because those kids always speak from innocence and always have a thousand things to teach us and to learn from them constantly,” Mendoza said. “Also happy to count on great brands of the region that believe in this project.”
Regional sponsors, including ElPozo, Juver, and La Rueda, alongside institutional support from the Región de Murcia and the Ayuntamiento de Murcia, will provide gifts for the attendees. Elena Lin, Marketing Manager Juver, highlighted the partnership’s longevity during the briefing. “Talking about the UCAM Murcia team and Juver is talking about shared history,” Lin said. “We had the pleasure of celebrating the anniversary, last season, the 50th anniversary. For us it is an honor to be able to share this moment, this experience with the children.”
Sponsor Commitments And Community Impact
Pablo Olivares, Director de Marketing de ElPozo, emphasized the emotional core of the initiative for corporate partners. “For ElPozo it is a pride to be in one more edition of El Partido del Recreo,” Olivares said. “For the brand, El Partido del Recreo is not what happens on the court, because what happens on the court is amazing, but the beautiful thing is to see thousands of boys and girls super excited.”
Adding to the commercial backing, Product Manager La Rueda Pablo PelegrÃn underlined the alignment between corporate goals and youth basketball. “For La Rueda it is fundamental, as we always want to support sports initiatives,” PelegrÃn said. “Our application seeks the common good and there is no sport that works harder than basketball.”
Fran Sánchez, Director General de Deportes, underscored the broader social value of the gathering for the local community. “It is a match in which the least important thing is who wins,” Sánchez said. “The truly important thing is that there is not a single child who does not have a good time and who wants to return. Schools come from all over the region and therefore for me it is the clear sense that UCAM Murcia is the basketball team of the Region of Murcia.”
The V edition of El Partido del Recreo is scheduled to get underway on Monday, November 2, at 11:00 at the Palacio de los Deportes de Murcia.
