Toyama Shogyo, Takaoka Daiichi, and Takaoka Shogyo Advance to Quarterfinals at Hokushinetsu High School Baseball Tournament

Toyama Shogyo secured a 6–2 come-from-behind victory over Nagaoka in the first round of the Hokushinetsu Regional High School Baseball Tournament on October 10, 2026, at Yukyuyama Baseball Stadium in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.

Toyama Shogyo Overcomes Early Deficit

Trailing by two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, Toyama Shogyo capitalized on patient plate discipline and powerful hitting to overturn the score. Kosuke Fukai drew a walk, and Satsuki Mukaiyama followed with an infield single to load the bases with one out. Sosuke Yanagihara delivered the decisive blow, crushing a bases-clearing triple to deep center field to put Toyama Shogyo ahead.

Yusho Nakajima added an insurance run moments later with a sacrifice fly. On the mound, starting pitcher Yuhei Nishida and reliever Yusei Yamada combined to weather 14 hits by Nagaoka, successfully limiting the damage to just two runs.

Takaoka Daiichi Advances on Walk-Off Hit

Takaoka Daiichi claimed a dramatic 2–1 walk-off victory against Tokyo Gakugan Niigata in a tightly contested pitching duel. Tied 1–1 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Shota Mae drew a walk to open the frame. Following intentional tactics that loaded the bases with one out, Yuso Takagi drove an inside fastball into right field for the game-winning single.

Takagi also anchored the effort on the mound, mixing his pitches to keep Tokyo Gakugan Niigata’s bats quiet. He surrendered just four hits and one run over nine innings to complete the game.

Takaoka Shogyo Cruises in Seven Innings

Takaoka Shogyo jumped on Fukui Shogyo early and never relented, cruising to a 9–2 victory in a game stopped after seven innings due to the tournament’s mercy rule. In the bottom of the first inning, Takaoka Shogyo drew three consecutive walks against a struggling starting pitcher before taking advantage of a wild pitch to open the scoring.

Shuya Inasaki added a run-scoring single to left, and Himuha Tanabe lifted a sacrifice fly to cap a three-run frame. Takaoka Shogyo extended its lead in the sixth inning behind a two-run single from Harumichi Hotto. Starting pitcher Jumpei Taniguchi worked five effective innings, allowing only three hits.

Quarterfinal Matchups in Niigata and Sanjo

All three prefectural representatives advance to the quarterfinals scheduled for October 11, 2026. Toyama Shogyo faces Komatsu Otani at Sanjo Pearl Metal Stadium starting at 10:00 AM local time. Takaoka Daiichi takes on Tsuruga Kehi at the same venue at 12:30 PM. Meanwhile, Takaoka Shogyo meets Kanazawa at Hard Off Eco Stadium Niigata, also beginning at 12:30 PM.
