Infielder Rosman Verdugo and right-handed pitcher Robert Gsellman have officially reported to the Tomateros de Culiacán training camp in Culiacán, Sinaloa, joining the full squad ahead of their upcoming exhibition schedule. The team reassembled at the ISDE training facilities following a road trip through Baja California, practicing at 10:30 a.m. to prepare for the 2026-2027 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico Banamex season.
Full Squad Workout at ISDE Facilities After Baja California Road Trip
Following their travel through Baja California, the Tomateros de Culiacán returned to their home base in Culiacán to resume full-squad workouts under manager Lorenzo Bundy. The morning session focused heavily on sharpening both offensive and defensive fundamentals as opening day approaches. Alongside the team drills, pitchers Manny Barreda, David Gutiérrez, and José Carlo Meza took the mound for live batting practice (Live BP) sessions to test their arm readiness.
Both players participated in their first official workouts of this training phase, integrating immediately into the team’s tactical preparations.
Verdugo and Gsellman Bring Professional Experience to Sinaloa
Verdugo arrives in the Sinaloan capital following a summer in the San Diego Padres farm system, where he advanced to the Triple-A level. The young infielder noted that the promotion provided crucial high-level reps for his professional development.
“I feel really happy for this opportunity. I’m coming back more mature and with more experience under my belt,” Verdugo said.
Gsellman joins the pitching staff after compiling seven seasons of Major League Baseball experience alongside a stint in Japanese professional baseball. The Santa Monica, California native wasted no time getting acquainted with his new surroundings during his first workout in the Guinda jersey.

“I’m super excited to be here. I want to get in game shape to throw and win for this organization—I’ve heard that winning here is a blast,” Gsellman stated.
Exhibition Matchup Against Cañeros de Los Mochis

The contest is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. local time, giving manager Lorenzo Bundy another opportunity to evaluate his roster depth before the regular season gets underway.
