Tartu Ülikool Maks & Moorits beats Liepāja in LIBL basketball game

The Liepāja basketball team dropped to a winless start in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League following a loss to Tartu Ülikool Maks & Moorits.

Fourth-Quarter Collapse Costs Liepāja

Entering the final minute of regulation on Sunday, Liepāja held an 83-81 advantage on their home floor. However, the hosts failed to score down the stretch in either the final or penultimate minutes, allowing Tartu to close out the game with a decisive six-point run.

Standout Performances for the Hosts

Rodijs Mačoha delivered a strong all-around performance for Liepāja, registering 19 points, 11 rebounds, and drawing eight fouls. Edvards Egle also contributed 19 points alongside four rebounds and four assists, while Reds Martinsons tallied 15 points and Ivo Tamms chipped in 11. Despite the balanced scoring effort, Liepāja’s late offensive drought proved costly.
