SSG Tennis Challenges New No-Stopping Zone in Langen’s Zimmerstraße

Winter Stopping Bans Target School Frontages

To protect children and adolescents from traffic hazards during the winter half-year, the city of Langen has expanded absolute parking and stopping prohibitions along the southern section of Zimmerstraße, affecting the zones in front of three local schools as well as a nearby tennis facility parking area.

Magistrate Extends Restrictions at Adolf-Reichwein, Erich-Kästner, and Janusz-Korczak Schools

The city’s magistrate extended the absolute stopping ban to cover the entire area fronting the Adolf-Reichwein-Schule, Erich-Kästner-Schule, and Janusz-Korczak-Schule, rheinmainverlag.de reported.

City officials noted that the regulatory change aims to eliminate dangerous situations that occur when parents drive children directly to school grounds during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal periods. While angled parking stalls perpendicular to the roadway remain fully accessible, stopping at the curb along the school frontages is strictly prohibited. An exception applies solely to vehicles transporting disabled individuals on the side opposite the schools.

SSG Langen Tennis Board Meets Municipal Ordnungsamt

The expanded traffic rules also encompass the parking and access zone directly outside the SSG Langen tennis facility, ssg-tennis.de reported. In response, members of the SSG Tennis board met with the municipal Ordnungsamt on October 19, 2026.

During the discussions, club leadership detailed operational challenges regarding vehicle parking, material deliveries, and court maintenance access under the new restrictions. The tennis board requested that the absolute stopping ban be modified to apply exclusively from Monday through Friday during standard school hours. The municipal regulatory office acknowledged the club’s submission, agreeing to review the objections before providing a formal response. Club representatives stated that further updates will be shared with members once city officials issue a decision.
