Shimane Susanoo Magic: New Original Short Anime Featuring Saucy Dog and Takuya Eguchi

Bandai Namco Shimane Susanoo Magic has produced an original short animated film centered on the B.League professional basketball club, featuring vocal tracks by the rock band Saucy Dog and voice acting from Takuya Eguchi, the team announced.

Animation Follows Takuya's Rise to Star Player

The roughly 50-second animation follows Takuya, a young boy living in the club’s home city of Matsue, as he grows up watching and playing basketball before eventually taking the court as a star player for Shimane Susanoo Magic, according to the club’s official announcement. The production highlights familiar Matsue streetscapes to emphasize how the sport weaves into daily life and fuels local ambitions.

The release coincides with the dawn of the B.League Premier era, aligning the fictional character’s progression with the club’s trajectory into the league’s top flight. The shorts debuted at the team’s home venue on October 26, 2026, before getting a wider public release on October 27, 2026.

Saucy Dog Supplies the Theme Song

Rock band Saucy Dog provides the theme song, titled "Yashisa ni Afureta Sekai de," which translates to "In a World Overflowing with Kindness." The track highlights the protagonist's transition from childhood to youth and mirrors the community connections depicted on screen.

Band frontman Shinya Ishihara recalled attending his first Shimane Susanoo Magic match as a spectator during a private visit. The high-intensity contest left a lasting impression, prompting him to walk two extra station stops after the game while reflecting on the team’s energy. Ishihara’s group has built a substantial following among younger listeners, surpassing 3.3 billion total streaming plays across hits like “Itsuka,” “Yuu,” and “Cinderella Boy.” The band also appeared at the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen in December 2022, released their 9th mini-album “Curry Rice” on December 17, 2025, and launched their “NEW GAME+” arena tour in September 2026 following a successful dome concert in Osaka on January 4, 2026.

Takuya Eguchi Voices the Adult Protagonist

Voice actor Takuya Eguchi steps into the role of the adult Takuya, bringing the player’s competitive drive and connection to his hometown to life as he steps out of the player tunnel and onto the hardwood.

Eguchi, an Ibaraki Prefecture native born on May 22, won both the Leading Actor Award and Most Valuable Seiyu prize at the 17th Seiyu Awards in 2023. His prominent voice acting credits include Loid Forger in SPY×FAMILY, Karashi Renmake in Akane-banashi, and Julius in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. Commenting on the project, Eguchi noted that watching the fictional boy chase his dreams through the streets of Matsue mirrored the larger cultural ambitions surrounding Shimane Susanoo Magic as the club enters the B.League Premier era.

Enomoto Focuses on Regional Youth Development

Club president Koji Enomoto oversees the organization as it leans into regional youth development and community ties, aiming to make players and the arena natural points of aspiration for children across Shimane Prefecture. The animated short serves as a creative anchor for that outreach, framing local athletics as a continuous loop of inspiration passing from one generation to the next.
