Young officials and representatives from Shajing Subdistrict in Shenzhen recently visited Xiaolan Town in Zhongshan to exchange ideas on industrial development, youth community construction, and cultural integration. The visit, supported by the Communist Youth League committees of both Bao’an District and Zhongshan City, aimed to foster collaboration between the two regions and broaden the professional perspectives of the participating youth leaders.
Industrial Synergy at Yue-Shen Zhigu
The delegation began their tour at the Yue-Shen Zhigu industrial park, a facility designed to serve as a hub for the integration of Shenzhen and Zhongshan. According to reports from Baoan Daily, the park is positioned as a benchmark for industrial upgrading, focusing on high-end manufacturing and electronic information industries. The site operates under a “Shenzhen R&D + Zhongshan Manufacturing” model, designed to capture spillover industries from Shenzhen while utilizing local resources for refined operation and digital transformation.
During the visit, representatives from both regions discussed the practical challenges of park operations, enterprise cultivation, and the implementation of digital upgrades. The exchange allowed the Shajing delegation to examine how Xiaolan’s industrial transformation has functioned in practice, offering a template for potential applications within their own jurisdictions.

Sports and Community Engagement in Xiaolan
Following the industrial tour, the group visited the Zhongshan International Baseball Town and the Qinglan Space. The Baseball Town, recognized as a national sports and leisure characteristic town, provided a case study in how to leverage sporting events to drive tourism and community engagement. The participants reviewed the town’s integrated approach, which combines event hosting, sports-education integration, and educational tourism.
At the Qinglan Space, the discussion shifted toward the operational models of youth-focused public welfare centers. The delegation analyzed how local youth communities are cultivated and how social innovation and volunteer activities help maintain grassroots vitality. Participants shared their own experiences in using culture and sports to build community cohesion, exploring ways to improve youth services and governance through active public engagement.
Future Collaboration Frameworks
The visit concluded with group discussions centered on three primary pillars: industrial empowerment, youth cultural engagement, and the operation of public spaces. Representatives from Shajing and Xiaolan compared their current developmental foundations and identified areas where they could improve their respective administrative and service strategies. The discussions resulted in a series of actionable ideas intended to bridge the gap between regional planning and local implementation.
Shajing Subdistrict officials indicated that the insights gained during the trip will be integrated into future community programs, specifically targeting improvements in youth services, the management of public facilities, and industrial support initiatives. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to foster high-quality regional development by empowering local youth and strengthening the organizational capacity of neighborhood institutions.
