Şekip Mosturoğlu Details Tragic Theater Claims on Turkish Football

Opening the meeting, High Board Şekip Mosturoğlu addressed systemic issues within Turkish football, recalling that Fenerbahçe has long complained about the prevailing setup. Şekip Mosturoğlu stated that while the club raised these issues previously, rivals dismissed them, and the Professional Football Disciplinary Board issued severe penalties against Fenerbahçe and its representatives for criticizing the Turkish Football Federation and referees.

Mosturoğlu added that these penalties were given entirely due to statements made about the Turkish Football Federation and referees and noted that no other club in history has been given such penalties.

Mosturoğlu argued that recent legal actions vindicated the club’s warnings. He pointed to the arrest of the Central Referee Board President within the scope of the referee files investigation, stating that this demonstrated the existence of the organized structure the club had faced for years. According to Mosturoğlu, in an environment where merit was forgotten and matches were assigned based on the personal choices of the Central Referee Board President, fair play could not be mentioned, and referees appointed under those personal preferences had determined those who were relegated and the champions.

Mosturoğlu stated that referees had given statements regarding internal affairs but that this was not sufficient. He added that they expected these referees to share all dimensions of what they experienced with the prosecutor’s office, noting that it can be seen how the refereeing institution, from amateur to the Super League, has entered a spiral of favoritism and injustice. Stating that no one could mention fair play during a process where referees were arrested for match-fixing and incentive crimes, Mosturoğlu expressed the wish that suspected crimes will be revealed in all aspects within an effective investigation, and stated that they would be involved in the process as legal proceedings developed.

Mosturoğlu asserted that figures previously criticizing Fenerbahçe now echoed the club’s long-standing arguments. Mosturoğlu called those voices insincere, describing them as beneficiaries of a broken system attempting to replace key actors to serve their own interests.

UEFA Observers Monitor Developments as Hopes for Structural Reform Continue

Şekip Mosturoğlu, UEFA’nın Türk futbolundaki olağanüstü gelişmelere bakarak gözlemci gönderdiği bir dönemde olduğumuzu belirtti. The high board president maintained that rival calls for TFF or MHK resignations aimed to skew the unfair system rather than dismantle it, stressing that Fenerbahçe seeks fundamental institutional change, complete transparency, and strict accountability rather than simple personnel swaps.

Mosturoğlu stated that if we do not come together for a radical institutional change in the Turkish football system, Turkish football cannot escape entering UEFA audit, and emphasized that our struggle is not against individuals, but against a corrupt order.
