Seahawks Agreed to Terms with Joe Mixon, per Mike Garafolo

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with running back Joe Mixon after he participated in a team workout on Monday, according to reports from Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The addition comes as the Seahawks manage a backfield depleted by injuries and recent roster adjustments.

Seahawks Add Veteran Running Back Joe Mixon

Mixon arrives in Seattle following a stint with the Houston Texans, who released the running back in March. His release followed a 2025 NFL season that he missed entirely due to a foot injury. During the 2024 campaign, his first season with Houston, Mixon rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection.

At 30 years old, Mixon brings extensive experience to the Pacific Northwest. He spent his first seven professional seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, the franchise that drafted him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Over his career, Mixon has accumulated 7,428 rushing yards and 60 rushing touchdowns, alongside 2,448 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns through the air.

Roster Shuffling Forces Seattle Backfield Adjustments

Seattle pursued backfield help after placing rookie running back Jadarian Price on injured reserve on Saturday due to a torso injury. Price, a first-round pick, will be sidelined for at least the next three games under league rules.

The Seahawks’ running back room currently features Emanuel Wilson and George Holani atop the depth chart, while Zach Charbonnet nears a return from his own absence. Velus Jones Jr., whom the Seahawks signed on Saturday, currently occupies the third-string running back role.

Mixon Passes Seattle Physical After Foot Injury

His production peaked statistically during his time with the Bengals, where he served as the focal point of their ground attack. After missing the entire 2025 season to recover from his foot injury, Mixon passed Monday’s physical and workout with Seattle to earn another opportunity in the NFL.
