Independiente Santa Fe secured a 2-1 victory over Jaguares de Córdoba at Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín during a rescheduled seventh-round fixture of the Liga BetPlay II-2026 season,, Win Sports reported. Uruguayan forward Franco Fagúndez spearheaded the attack with two goals to lift the Bogotá side into the upper half of the standings. The match officials included referee Ferney Ossa alongside VAR officials John Edinson Perdomo Horta and Daniel Alzate Soto.
Fagúndez Opens Scoring Early Before Second-Half Winner
The match turned on the finishing of Fagúndez, who broke the deadlock following a collective buildup and a pass from Hugo Rodallega. Jaguares absorbed heavy pressure and threatened through quick counter-attacks, but Santa Fe maintained territorial control through the midfield. After the break, the visitors pushed for an equalizer before Fagúndez struck again, converting a rebound after Hugo Rodallega’s shot struck the goalframe. During the first half, the video assistant referee invalidated a goal scored by Jáder Obrian due to an earlier offside infraction by Fagúndez. The visitor’s goal was defended by goalkeeper Weibmar Asprilla.
Manager Pablo Repetto Assesses Team Conditioning and Finishing
Santa Fe manager Pablo Repetto expressed satisfaction with the three points while pointing out areas for improvement as the tournament enters its final stretch. “Poco a poco nos vamos recuperando en la parte física y a partir de ahí vamos a mejorar,” Repetto stated, adding that his squad must display greater ruthlessness in front of goal after missing several scoring chances during the fixture. Tuvimos cosas buenas y otras a mejorar. En líneas generales nos vamos contentos y queremos mejorar.”
Late Goal Narrows Margin as Standings Take Shape
Jaguares found a late breakthrough when Cristian Álvarez combined with Andrés Rentería, who slotted past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1. The late strike left insufficient time for an equalizer. With the three points secured, Santa Fe climbs to sixth place in the league table with 25 points from 14 matches, strengthening their bid for a place in the semifinal cuadrangulares ahead of an upcoming fixture against Atlético Bucaramanga.
