Red Star Belgrade secured a 77-58 victory over Dubai in Euroleague play, moving to a 2-2 record ahead of their upcoming matchup against ASVEL in Villeurbanne. Head coach Ibon Navarro guided the Serbian club to a dominant defensive performance on the road at Emirates opponents who had previously defeated Real Madrid and FC Barcelona at home.
Defensive Clampdown Secures Road Win
The halftime score of 31-37 established the defensive tone of the match. After Dubai claimed a 21-16 lead in the opening quarter, Red Star restricted their hosts to just 10 points in the second period, followed by 15 and 12 points in the third and fourth quarters respectively. Xavi Pascual’s Dubai side struggled from the field, finishing 15-of-39 on two-point attempts and 5-of-22 from three-point range. Red Star shot 8-of-30 from beyond the arc but controlled the glass with 41 rebounds to Dubai’s 36 and handed out 18 assists compared to 11.
Individual Standouts in Belgrade’s Victory
