Red Bull Salzburg suffered a heavy 4–0 defeat against AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening, leaving the Austrian club with three points after two matches in the league phase. As sport.ORF.at reported, Milan controlled the fixture in front of 22,503 spectators at the Red Bull Arena, where 19-year-old forward Alphadjo Cissé scored a decisive hat-trick.
Salzburg Struggle Against Milan Dominance
The home side found themselves under pressure early in Wals-Siezenheim. After just fifteen minutes, Omari Hutchinson delivered a cross from the right flank, allowing Cissé to head past the defense and open the scoring. Cissé struck again in the 32nd minute, left unmarked in the center to convert another cross, before sealing his hat-trick shortly after halftime in the 49th minute. Gonçalo Ramos added Milan’s fourth goal in the 72nd minute. Salzburg managed a few early opportunities through Christian Zawieschitzky and Kevin Boma, who cleared a shot off the line in the 18th minute, but head coach Danny Röhl’s team struggled to create sustained danger against the Italian visitors.
Fan Frustrations and Catering Shortages in the Stands
The sporting result was compounded by logistical problems off the pitch for the home supporters. As salzburg24 reported, long queues and empty concession stands at the stadium left many fans frustrated. Spectators reported that supplies such as beer, spritzers, and traditional schnitzel sandwiches ran out before halftime, particularly on the east stand. The stadium catering is managed by the Vienna-based caterer foodaffairs, which took over operations at the start of the season. Red Bull Salzburg later issued an official statement acknowledging the complaints, stating that the catering partner currently fails to meet agreed quality standards and that the club has addressed the shortcomings directly with the provider.

Red Card and Closing Stages in Wals-Siezenheim
Milan finished the match with ten men after defender Filippo Terracciano received a straight red card in the 83rd minute for a professional foul denying a clear scoring opportunity against Dominik Schmid, as noted by sport.ORF.at. Despite the numerical advantage in the dying minutes, Salzburg could not break through Maignan’s goal. The Austrian side remains on three points following their 1–0 away victory against Levski Sofia on matchday one.
