The Deutscher Judo-Bund (DJB) finalized a balanced budget for 2027, appointed Aleksei Budolin as the new men’s national head coach, and advanced deliberations regarding a potential German bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games during the third quarter of 2026, judobund.de reported.
Financial Planning and Administration Updates
Federal auditors from the Bundesverwaltungsamt conducted a major operational audit of the DJB during the third quarter. Alongside this scrutiny, the organization finalized its 2025 annual financial statements and locked in a balanced budget projection for 2027. Leadership also introduced new internal controlling instruments to monitor current-year expenditures closely.
In administrative transparency, the DJB published an official disclosure register covering its presidential board and executive committee. The organization also established a working committee to review and update existing bylaws and procedural rules following mandates from the 2025 general assembly.
Aleksei Budolin Becomes Men's National Head Coach
Aleksei Budolin assumed his duties as the new men’s national head coach at the end of September 2026. The appointment followed an extensive search conducted by a dedicated selection commission that established criteria, evaluated candidates, and held structured interviews. Miryam Roper, the federation’s board member, initiated several broader operational restructuring efforts upon taking office.
Additional staffing changes saw Miriam Stoye step in as a temporary replacement for Kim Sum starting July 15, while Frank Nitzel joined as the new reference officer for the Judo Dan Community. Staff members also received initial individual consultations regarding the federation’s occupational pension scheme.
DJB Discusses Potential Bid for Olympic Games
The DJB executive board and presidential committee participated in strategic discussions regarding Germany’s potential bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Leadership finalized the federation’s intended regional voting preference, which combines nine votes from the board and executive committee alongside a tenth vote determined by the majority preference of regional state associations. Officials also cultivated economic and political contacts during selection events held in Baden-Baden.

At the international level, DJB representatives held talks with the North Rhine-Westphalian State Chancellery, the Federal Chancellery, D.Sports, and the International Judo Federation regarding the possibility of hosting a Grand Prix event in Germany. Preparations also advanced for hosting the European Cadet Championships for under-18 and under-21 competitors in Berlin in 2027.
DokuMe Agreement Provides Free Digital Tools Nationwide
The federation finalized a central framework agreement with DokuMe, consolidating services that previously required separate billing. Under the new contract, regional state associations and Bundesliga clubs gain free long-term access to tools such as the TUMAG system and digital scoreboards. Several new digital modules developed in Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalian regions—covering league management, strength reporting, modular Dan testing, support cascades, role concepts, and event management—are now integrated for nationwide use.
