Puerto Madryn judoka Bruno Roberts Mc Carthy captured a gold medal in the under-28 kilogram boys’ promo division at a regional tournament in Cipolletti, El Chubut reported. The traveling delegation from Chubut Province secured multiple podium finishes across various youth categories against competitors from 21 different dojos.
The weekend tournament brought together young martial artists from across the region to test their technical and physical conditioning. Puerto Madryn’s team finished 11th overall in the final dojo standings, establishing a strong presence at the venue despite facing deep fields in both novice and experienced brackets.
Podium Finishes Across Youth Categories
Roberts Mc Carthy added a bronze medal in the under-13 juvenile division up to 31 kilograms to complement his gold-medal performance in the promo class. Teammate Santino Miranda also claimed a gold medal in the under-30 kilogram promotional category, while securing a bronze in the under-13 juvenile bracket up to 30 kilograms.
Abigail Juárez earned a silver medal in the novice Kiu category and a bronze in graduated cadets. Samuel Delgado added two bronze medals to the team’s total, finishing third in both the graduated cadets and novice Kiu divisions. Cian Llanos Pérez also represented the delegation, competing in the introductory school division.

Newcomers Make Immediate Impact
Delegation representatives highlighted the fast progression of Juárez and Delgado, both of whom began training in judo earlier this year. Despite having less than a year of mat experience, both athletes successfully navigated regional brackets to secure medals.
Coaching and administrative duties for the trip were managed by Giuliano Galavotti, a second-dan technician, and Oscar Galavotti, a fifth-dan delegate. Team organizers expressed satisfaction with the athletes’ physical and technical execution during their matches.
Family Support and Travel Logistics
Team leadership publicly acknowledged the financial and logistical backing provided by athletes’ families, noting that parental contributions remain vital for covering the costs of competing on the road.
