Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lucas Beraldo credited manager Luis Enrique with transforming his tactical understanding and professional career after extending his contract through June 2031.
Contract Renewal Secured Until June 2031
Paris Saint-Germain secured the long-term future of Lucas Beraldo by signing the 22-year-old Brazilian defender to a contract extension running until June 2031. The formal agreement cements his position within the double French champions’ squad following his arrival in January 2024 from São Paulo. Beraldo has 3 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
Discussing the renewal with club media, Beraldo said the milestone was important for his family and career. He thanked the president, Luis Campos, Luis Enrique, all his teammates, and the entire club for making the five-year extension possible.

Tactical Evolution Under Luis Enrique
While initially deployed as a central defender, Beraldo experienced a major positional shift under Luis Enrique. Luis Enrique had previously approached the player to assess his comfort level in the centre of the pitch.
That initial emergency deployment evolved into a permanent tactical asset. Beraldo delivered standout performances in the holding midfield role, notably in a 3-0 victory over Angers at Stade Raymond Kopa where he recorded a goal and an assist. His representative, Filipe Tancredi, confirmed to Trivela that the club and technical staff now view Beraldo primarily as a midfielder while retaining his positional versatility across the backline.
“On the technical level, I have improved a lot and I am convinced of that,” Beraldo stated. “That is why the coach placed me a little further forward, positioning me in the defensive midfield position so that I can provide my help, better show my game, what I am capable of and what I can bring to the team. And that is where I feel best and where I manage to do things very well.”
Mentorship Beyond the Pitch
Beyond tactical adjustments, Beraldo highlighted the personal mentorship he received from the Spanish coach. “I think I can only thank him for taking me under his wing, so to speak, for helping me progress, for being able to point out the points to improve and those on which I still have to work,” Beraldo said.

The Brazilian defender added that the lessons extended far beyond the training ground at the Campus PSG. “On the mental level too, because beyond everything he teaches us on the pitch, he teaches us a lot off the pitch, about life, about how to live it, about how to enjoy every moment, to appreciate everything that happens on the pitch, in training, during trips. I think that is the essential point that touches me the most.”
PSG Rejects Saudi Arabian Offer for Beraldo
Despite limited starting opportunities in central defense compared to established starters, Beraldo’s market value and standing within the squad remain exceptionally high.
