Philippe Diallo urges Girondins supporters to improve behavior to reduce costs

French Football Federation President Philippe Diallo stated that the organization is not responsible for the situation of Girondins de Bordeaux, while addressing the management of traveling supporters during their trips to Régional 1 stadiums. Speaking during a visit to Saint-Médard-en-Jalles for a meeting with employees from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie football leagues, Diallo addressed reporters regarding the club.

The French Football Federation confirmed that it welcomed the avoidance of judicial liquidation for the club. However, the governing body drew a firm line regarding financial assistance for security measures during away fixtures in Régional 1.

League Stance on Security Financing

According to regional reporting by Sud Ouest, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine football league contacted the general direction of the French Football Federation to clarify that neither opposing clubs nor the regional league itself will absorb the security costs generated by visiting Bordeaux supporters.

Diallo emphasized that while the federation will do everything possible to support the Girondins, it cannot bend competition rules. The FFF president stressed that any support provided to the club must strictly respect the principle of equality with every other club competing in Poule B of the regional division.

Addressing Supporter Antagonism

Turning directly to the behavior of the club’s fanbase, Diallo placed the responsibility for security expenses on internal fan relations and local authorities. The federation president urged supporters to improve mutual understanding to reduce security overhead.

Diallo stated to Sud Ouest: “It is up to the Girondins and local authorities to address this issue. The first thing will be to ensure that the supporters of the Girondins get along better with each other. It is this antagonism that causes the security costs. I invite them to come closer, have better behavior and the question of costs will arise in a different way.”

Next Steps for the Club

The club prepares for its fixtures in Régional 1 following administrative clearance, pending final validation checks.
