Percy Olivares confronts Puchungo over Peruvian team jungle prank

Former Peru national team defender Percy Olivares confronted ex-teammate Roberto “Puchungo” Guizasola during a recent episode of the online program Lateando con Puchungo regarding a jungle training camp prank where teammates secretly placed a woman in his hotel room.

During the interview, Olivares pressed Guizasola to name the individuals behind the unexpected intrusion during a team concentration in the Peruvian jungle, according to a report published by Trome.

The former left-back, known during his playing career for maintaining strict personal convictions and a reserved lifestyle, demanded to know who orchestrated the setup.

Guizasola and Gonzales Defend the Jungle Setup

Guizasola defended the prank by claiming it was a group decision intended to help Olivares loosen up and share in the squad’s off-field experiences, telling him that the group simply wanted him to be happy.

The practical joke involved financial contributions from multiple players to arrange the visitor’s arrival at Olivares’s room. According to Guizasola’s account on the program, former forward Jorge “Balán” Gonzales participated in the scheme by hiding inside a wardrobe to observe the reaction. Guizasola joked that Gonzales struggled to keep the closet door closed because of his size-48 feet.

Fear and Frustration in Isolation

Olivares recounted that his initial reaction upon entering the room and finding an unfamiliar person was genuine fear rather than immediate anger.

Given the isolated and dark jungle environment, which he noted was populated by wildlife such as snakes, the sudden presence of an unexpected visitor caused genuine alarm before he realized it was a setup. Once he recognized the laughter coming from his teammates outside, his fear shifted to frustration over the intrusion into his personal space.

Yáñez Recalls the Wardrobe Ambush

Alfonso Yáñez, another former player who participated in the discussion, added that while Olivares treated the visitor respectfully before asking her to leave, he immediately directed his annoyance at the hiding teammates, warning them of repercussions while Gonzales remained trapped inside the wardrobe with only his eyes visible through the slightly ajar door.
