Pays de Fougères Basket enters Friday night’s Nationale 1 road fixture against CEP Lorient looking to halt a two-match slide. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. local time at Kervaric in Lorient, France.
The upcoming match marks the second stop in a sequence of four away fixtures for the Blues Brothers. Mathieu Lemercier’s squad opened the stretch with a Coupe de France elimination defeat against Rennes on Tuesday, and still faces upcoming trips to Challans on Tuesday, October 13, and Vitré on Friday, October 16.
Searching for Rhythm in Morbihan
Fougères began the regular campaign brightly with victories against Les Sables-d’Olonne and at Angers. However, momentum stalled following a home loss to Tarbes followed by the cup exit in Rennes. Team captain Kevin Bichard was described as completely off the mark during the Tarbes setback.
To reverse course against Lorient, the objective is to impose tempo from the opening minute. Players including Mopsus, Harrath, Laubouet, Poncet-Leberre, Lebrun, Tawredu, Dardaine, Jubenot, and Condé must rediscover the intensity and warrior spirit that defined their early-season wins.
CEP Lorient Targets Another Home Victory
On the opposite bench, CEP Lorient enters the regional derby riding a wave of momentum. Thomas Leroux’s side secured a 70–77 comeback victory away against JSA Bordeaux last Friday, overcoming 13-point first-quarter and 8-point halftime deficits. Maxime Choplin spearheaded the second-half resurgence, lifting the Morbihan club to its third win of the season despite the absences of teammates Franceschi and Matundu Vubi.
Lorient’s coaching staff has made turning Kervaric into an impregnable fortress a primary objective. Facing an aggressive Fougères side eager to disrupt the hierarchies, Lorient aims to combine immediate defensive rigor with offensive efficiency right from the opening tip.
