OTC Prepares Tennis Facility for Winter During Annual Clean-Up Day

Volunteers at the Olfener Tennis-Club 75 e.V. (OTC) gathered for their annual autumn cleanup, tackling court maintenance and facility preparations ahead of the winter season, the club’s board reported.

Winterizing Courts 4 Through 6 and Facility Cleanup

The volunteer crew completed a detailed checklist to safeguard the club grounds during colder months. Maintenance work included dismantling the windscreens and taking down the nets on courts 4 through 6, effectively sending those specific playing surfaces into winter hibernation. Workers also shut off the outdoor water supply and pressure-tested the lines to prevent freezing damage.

Additional chores involved clearing the terrace, moving seating furniture, cleaning the gutters, and removing leaves and fallen branches around court 4. Volunteers also serviced the birdhouses, tidied up the waste bin area, cleared out garage number 4, and hauled away old netting, yard waste, and debris.

Playing Options on Courts 1 to 3

While the secondary courts are now closed for the winter, tennis players can still access the facility. Courts 1 through 3 remain open for regular match play until further notice. The club board noted that these remaining courts will stay operational as long as local weather conditions permit safe and reasonable play.

Club Engagement and Volunteer Turnout

Club leadership expressed gratitude to the participants who stepped up for the seasonal project, acknowledging that while the turnout was enthusiastic, future work sessions would benefit from broader member participation. The board emphasized that community involvement helps distribute the workload efficiently while maintaining a social atmosphere.
