OL: Adil Hamdani returns to training after France U18 duty

Early Return Following Limoges Tournament Duty

Hamdani rejoined his club teammates on Wednesday after concluding a three-week international window with José Alcocer’s France U18 squad. The young forward featured in the Limoges Tournament finale on Monday, where the French youth side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Japan, ultimately finishing third in the competition. Despite the tournament concluding on a disappointing note for the national side, Hamdani headed straight back to the capital of the Gaules to resume club duties. His presence on the training pitches of the Groupama OL Training Center was captured in a video published across the club’s official social media channels, highlighting his immediate integration back into the professional setup.

Managing a Depleted Group During the International Break

Hamdani’s return offers a timely boost to Paulo Fonseca, who has been forced to oversee training sessions with a heavily reduced squad due to the ongoing international break. While a significant contingent of Lyon players departed to represent their respective countries, those non-international players remaining in Lyon recently returned to Décines following a full week of rest granted by Fonseca. Hamdani slotted straight into this group for the third collective training session of the week, adding much-needed depth to the training ground as the club manages the prolonged domestic pause.

Preparation Schedule Ahead of the Trip to Lens

With Hamdani back in the fold, the available Lyon squad will complete two final training sessions on Thursday and Friday mornings. Fonseca has scheduled another weekend off for the group before players return to the training center on Monday to step up preparations. The primary focus for the squad is the upcoming Ligue 1 Matchday 7 fixture away against RC Lens, scheduled for Friday, October 9, at 20:45 local time.
