Odell Beckham Jr. has secured another opportunity in the NFL, signing with the Minnesota Vikings practice squad following his release from the New York Giants, SPORT1 reported on Wednesday.
Odell Beckham Jr. Joins Minnesota Vikings Practice Squad
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has officially joined the Minnesota Vikings practice squad, according to an announcement made by the club on Wednesday. The 33-year-old veteran finds a new landing spot in the professional football league shortly after his departure from the New York franchise where he established his early career.
New York Giants Terminate Contract After Three Games
Beckham’s second stint in New York ended abruptly when the Giants terminated his contract after just three regular-season appearances. SPORT1 reported that Beckham originally returned to the Giants at the beginning of June. In the preceding season, the receiver—widely known as OBJ—played zero games and went unsigned following a suspension for violating anti-doping policies before the Giants signed him over the summer.
Reflecting on the short-lived reunion, Giants head coach John Harbaugh addressed the disappointing outcome of Beckham’s time back in New York. I would have liked for him to get more opportunities and be on the field more often,
Harbaugh said, as reported by SPORT1. But for whatever reasons, we didn’t manage to do that.
Super Bowl Triumph and Injury History
Before his recent setbacks in New York, Beckham captured his most significant career milestone in 2022 by winning the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. However, that victory came with a heavy physical toll. Beckham suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the championship game, an injury that forced him to miss the entire 2022–23 NFL season.
