Ruth Snowdon Juric, a trailblazing bank teller, champion athlete, and longtime community volunteer, passed away peacefully following a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, according to family announcements. She maintained her characteristic grace and optimism through her final days.
Early Life and Athletic Achievements
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Thomas and Ruth Wooler, Juric built a life marked by determination and accomplishment across multiple countries. Early in her career in London, England, she broke professional ground by becoming the first female teller at her bank. Beyond her professional pursuits, she excelled in athletics as a past bowler and badminton champion, while maintaining an active lifestyle as an avid member of her beloved AquaFit.
Family and Community Involvement
In 1967, Juric met her husband, Bob, whom the family noted became her true soulmate, best friend, and partner in a remarkable life together. She was a devoted mother to her children—Iain and Nancy, and Katica and Chris—and a proud grandmother to Thomas, Ethan, and Brandi. She also maintained close bonds with her brother, Stuart, and was predeceased by her siblings Carol and Jean, and Ian.
Deeply rooted in her faith as a Catholic, Juric was a dedicated member of the Catholic Women’s League. She directed much of her energy toward volunteering and helping others, earning a reputation among friends and neighbors for her generous heart, sense of humour, and constant willingness to lend a hand during difficult times.
Medical Care and Memorial Services
Throughout her extended cancer journey, Juric received specialized treatment from Dr. Rodney Ng, Dr. Brian Higgins, and the staff at the Credit Valley Cancer Centre. Family records indicate she was proudly recognized as Dr. Higgins’ longest-living patient, a milestone reflecting her resilience and physical strength.
Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home, located at 11582 Trafalgar Road in Georgetown, on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Family sharing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., followed by prayers at 6:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, located at 14400 Argyll Road in Georgetown, on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to the Cancer Assistance of Halton Hills or the Credit Valley Cancer Unit at Trillium Health Partners.
