Nvidia Names CEO Jensen Huang Son-in-Law Vice President of Global AI Infrastructure Growth
Nvidia has promoted Nico Caprez, the son-in-law of Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang, to Vice President of Global AI Infrastructure Growth, accelerating internal family management roles at the chip designer and drawing fresh scrutiny over governance structures, detikInet reported.
Corporate Ladder Climb in Under Two Years
In his new executive seat, the 35-year-old oversees global AI infrastructure, a core operating division that links data center clients purchasing Nvidia graphics processing units with essential resources, funding, power supplies, and physical facilities.
Family Ties Deepen Across Management Ranks
The executive elevation of Caprez adds to an expanding footprint of family members inside the enterprise. Caprez married Madison Huang, Jensen Huang’s 35-year-old daughter, in Hawaii. Madison joined Nvidia in 2020 and currently serves as senior director of marketing for the physical AI platform, alongside acting as a member of “The Band,” an inner circle supporting Jensen Huang during major public appearances. Spencer Huang, the 36-year-old eldest son, joined the company in 2022 to manage robotics product lines. Silicon Valley media reports indicate Madison holds high visibility and oversight across broad business sectors.

Jensen Huang Defends Appointments Against Nepotism Claims
While none of the founder’s children hold official executive officer titles and the firm maintains no formal succession blueprint, employee dissent surfaced during a 2024 company meeting where workers raised questions regarding potential nepotism. Jensen Huang defended the appointments to staff members by stating that parents would not recommend children who might embarrass a company, adding that certain second-generation employees possess capabilities that surpass their parents. Business publication The Information cited an anonymous Nvidia employee describing the corporate atmosphere as increasingly resembling a family business.
From Alpine Slopes to Financial Markets
Before entering the technology sector, Caprez pursued an athletic career as a competitive Swiss alpine skier, capturing a junior national downhill championship and placing sixth in world championship competition. Following his retirement from professional skiing in 2013, he transitioned into corporate finance through stints at the Boston Consulting Group, the London Business School, and various asset management firms. He met Madison Huang while both were enrolled as students at the London Business School.
