Necochea community members and health professionals gathered across public spaces and healthcare facilities for a series of events centered on breast cancer awareness and prevention during Octubre Rosa.
Local health authorities coordinated a schedule of community outreach spanning multiple neighborhood centers.
Walks and Archery Sessions Mark Community Mobilization
Members of the Bar Association and the Judiciary Association organized a public walk through Miguel Lillo Park, drawing professionals and local residents. Participants wore pink accessories to signal breast cancer awareness to passersby in the public park.
Nearby at the scout field, the Alquimia group partnered with Ramanegra Arquería for an archery session. While the sport does not prevent breast cancer, organizers utilized archery as a physical and emotional rehabilitation tool for women who have undergone surgery.
Alquimia Rosa Necochea operates as a support network for women who have gone through the disease, promoting medical check-ups and early detection through regular meetings and specialist talks.
The municipal government expanded diagnostic access through Centros de Atención Primaria de la Salud (CAPS) in Necochea and Quequén. Each neighborhood health center hosted dedicated mammogram days offering 15 scheduled appointments coordinated by the secretariats of the health centers.

X-ray technicians from Hospital Irurzun led educational sessions at healthcare facilities, instructing residents on breast self-examinations and the necessity of annual mammograms for women over 40. The World Health Organization declared October as the pink month, and breast cancer constitutes the principal cause of mortality in women worldwide.
Transportation Support and Upcoming Events
To address logistical barriers, local transport companies in Necochea and Quequén provided discounted round-trip bus tickets for patients attending special screening events at Hospital Irurzun. A 48-hour mammographic marathon was held on October 15 and 16 at the Hospital de Quequén.
The municipal health department scheduled the official conclusion of the awareness campaign for November 30, featuring a walk-and-run event starting from Plaza 3 de Agosto.
