Nebraska Controls the Tempo in Straight-Set Victory at Wilkinson Hall
The top-ranked Nebraska volleyball team maintained its flawless start to the season with a dominant road sweep over Indiana in Bloomington. The Huskers hit .379 as a team while holding the Hoosiers to a .282 hitting percentage, which marked the best hitting percentage from an opposing team against Nebraska since October of 2024.
Senior outside hitter Harper Murray led Nebraska with 11 kills on .364 hitting, adding seven digs and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Teraya Sigler chipped in 10 kills on a .389 hitting clip, while setter Bergen Reilly orchestrated the offense with 35 assists, seven digs, and three kills. Andi Jackson hit .471 with nine kills, and Manaia Ogbechie added eight kills on .500 hitting along with a team-high six blocks. How the Huskers Built Their Winning Margins Across Three Sets
Nebraska established control early in the opening frame, scoring the first three points and building an 8-2 lead that forced an early timeout from the hosts. Sigler dominated the early going with five kills in the first set alone, helping the visitors cruise to a 25-15 win.
The second set featured tighter competition before Olivia Mauch and Laney Choboy applied service pressure to widen the gap. Mauch served four straight points, including an ace, to push the score to 5-1. Indiana trimmed the deficit to 12-9, but Nebraska answered with a surge sparked by Manaia Ogbechie and Sigler to take the frame 25-19. Busboom Kelly challenged a net violation called against Jackson in the second set, noting that the review upheld the original ruling despite a lack of supporting video evidence.
Indiana mounted its strongest push in the third set, taking an early 4-3 lead and later moving ahead 12-10. Murray responded from the service line, orchestrating a four-point run capped by an ace. After a 15-15 tie, the Huskers reeled off four consecutive points and closed out the match 25-19 on consecutive block assists.
Indiana’s Offense Fires Back Despite the Sweep
Despite suffering its first home loss of the season, Indiana earned praise from head coach Steve Aird for pushing the nation’s top team. The Hoosiers played before a sold-out crowd of 2,705 that included Indianapolis Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson, and university president Pamela Whitton.
