NASA F-5 Flyover and Artemis Exhibit at MetLife Stadium: Inspiration Tour

Three NASA F-5 fighter jets and an interactive lunar exploration exhibit highlighted the agency’s public outreach strategy at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, during the National Football League game between the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns, NASA reported.

Freedom 250 jets streak over East Rutherford before kickoff

The pregame schedule featured a low-altitude pass by three F-5 aircraft from the agency’s Freedom 250 team during the national anthem in East Rutherford, New Jersey. According to agency announcements, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman was scheduled to pilot one of the three fighter jets leading into the 17-12 victory by the Jets over the Browns. The aerial demonstration mirrored an earlier flyover on Sept. 27, 2026, when the same Freedom 250 team flew over Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland prior to a matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Carolina Panthers.

Artemis dome and inflatable SLS rocket draw fans outside the stadium

Beyond the airspace above New Jersey, the agency set up the NASA Experience Zone inside the Jets Tailgate Zone outside the venue. Operating from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT, the public engagement area brought complex space programs directly to football supporters. Fans walked through an Artemis dome to explore details regarding humanity’s return to the Moon, participated in interactive games, and posed for photographs alongside a massive inflatable replica of the Space Launch System rocket. According to the agency, the event would include technology demonstrations, aircraft, space systems, and meetings with experts and astronauts as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Inspiration Tour bridges federal aerospace goals with major league sports

The MetLife Stadium appearance formed part of the broader Inspiration Tour, a public engagement initiative launched through a formal partnership between NASA and the NFL announced on Sept. 10, 2026. The collaborative program utilizes professional football crowds to connect everyday citizens with American achievements in aeronautics and space research. While the stadium flyovers capture immediate public attention, the tour simultaneously targets academic, industrial, and public sector stakeholders across the United States. During the game, Isaacman was scheduled to be available for limited media interviews.

Kennedy Space Center readies for MAX POWER exposition

Following the New Jersey event, the agency’s outreach schedule looks ahead to a multi-day showcase in Florida. The Inspiration Tour will culminate with MAX POWER, a public exposition celebrating American air and space innovation scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026. Hosted on and near the Kennedy Space Center, the family-friendly event will display next-generation aircraft, spacecraft, and autonomous systems in honor of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
