Club Membership Expands in Haut-Bugey Region

Club president Thomas Harbonnier outlined the steady expansion of the local organization during the Saturday event. The facility currently serves 499 registered members, making it the first in the Haut-Bugey region and ranking seventh overall across the département.

Women account for 34 percent of the active membership base, a figure highlighted by leadership alongside an ongoing athletic partnership with the Lycée Xavier-Bichat. Pocheron Luyat noted during her remarks that club metrics across participation and engagement remain exceptionally high, as she underlined that all figures are at the top alongside a fine tribute to Thomas Harbonnier, an ever-attentive and enterprising president. Jean Deguerry added on his part: This is a club that matters, the foundations are solid.

Officials Honor Former Presidents at Opening Ceremonies

Local officials dedicated a portion of the opening ceremonies to recognizing the former presidents who laid the groundwork for the modern facility. Recipients received commemorative trophies alongside a plaque bearing the inscription, “Votre héritage sera une part de notre histoire” (“Your heritage will be a part of our history”).

Sub-Prefect Garcin-Escobar emphasized the social value of the new installation, describing it as a versatile venue designed to connect diverse audiences and encourage community interaction. Following the formal speeches, attending municipal and regional leaders stepped onto the newly surfaced courts to test the facility with a few rallies on the padel tracks.
