Monserrato Honors Judo Renshu Club Samurai for Rare CONI Bronze Star

The municipal council of Monserrato officially honored the Judo Renshu Club Samurai and Maestro Fadda, presenting the local sports association with a civic plaque for decades of athletic achievement and community contribution.

Civic Recognition for Judo Renshu Club Samurai

Mayor Tomaso Locci and members of the Monserrato town council hosted the judo club during the opening session of the municipal council meeting. Maestro Fadda attended the ceremony alongside his wife, son, daughter, and more than 15 club athletes, several of whom hold Italian championship titles. City officials presented the sports group with an engraved plaque recognizing their longstanding impact on the local community.

The municipal honor follows a prestigious distinction awarded to the club by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). Local authorities noted that the national sports body conferred its Bronze Star for Sporting Merit upon the organization, marking a rare accolade for a club based in the region.

Records indicate that the Judo Renshu Club Samurai opened its doors in 1972. The organization currently operates its training facility at the Monserrato Services Center, where instructors have coached generations of athletes in the disciplines of martial arts.

Mayor Locci acknowledged that previous municipal administrations had not formally recognized the organization’s contributions. The current town leadership sought to address this oversight, noting that Monserrato maintains numerous athletic programs deserving of official civic acknowledgment.
