The school visit marked the third of five theme-based community events scheduled between October 7 and October 11 during the NBA China Games programming.
High-ranking executives attended the morning session, including Kathy Behrens, NBA President of Social Responsibility and Player Matters; Wayne Chang, Managing Director of NBA Asia; Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd.; and Kenneth Chu, Chief Operating Officer of Sands China Ltd.
Students Showcase Skills for NBA Personnel
The event opened with a student jump rope demonstration that drew applause from visiting guests and NBA personnel. Following the performance, Richmond and the coaching staff led drills, focusing on fundamentals and individual technique. Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks mascots also attended the session, appearing during the training activities.
“Their enthusiasm moved me, and every child is carefully polishing their skills. When I go back, I will tell everyone around me about my experience in Macau.”
Calligraphy Exchange and Equipment Donation
Following the on-court session, participants moved indoors for a cultural exchange featuring traditional Chinese calligraphy. Richmond and other guests observed students practicing brushstrokes on rice paper before trying the brushwork themselves.
Representatives from the NBA and Sands China presented Yu Hua Middle School with a donation of sports equipment, and both organizations exchanged commemorative gifts with school administrators to support campus athletics. The five-day series of community events continues with health-focused programming on October 10 and a community basketball carnival on October 11.
