Max Verstappen dominated the Singapore Grand Prix weekend by leading every single lap from start to finish on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, securing his maiden victory at the venue and leaving Red Bull Racing team management stunned by his pace.
Verstappen Overwhelms Competition Across All Compounds
Verstappen’s path to victory featured a lone moment of tension during a minor brush with the wall in the final corner, but the incident did little to disrupt an otherwise flawless drive. The four-time world champion got away well enough to keep Charles Leclerc at bay in the first corner before beginning to build a lead. According to Mekies in an interview with Viaplay, the Dutch driver operated in an entirely different dimension throughout the grand prix. “The speed that he has shown, the speed that the team has put into the car, and the pace that he managed to extract from it… Whether Max was on the same tires as the competition or on a different compound, in all scenarios he was in a class of his own,” Mekies stated. The miss of the fastest lap prevented Verstappen from securing his seventh Grand Slam.
The dominant showing added Singapore to Verstappen’s extensive career palmares in commanding fashion, marking his 73rd Grand Prix victory for the Austrian team. Mekies emphasized that the massive race-pace advantage caught even the team hierarchy off guard, praising the engineering group in Milton Keynes for unlocking significant performance gains on the car. “And Max showed a very special form of magic. We are used to some magic from him by now, but what he showed now was truly on a different level,” Mekies added.
Hadjar Charges Through The Field From Pit Lane
Red Bull’s successful weekend extended down the garage to rookie teammate Isack Hadjar, who orchestrated a remarkable recovery drive. After starting the race from the pit lane following pre-race complications, Hadjar carved his way through the pack to finish in tenth place, securing a crucial championship point. “Isack was just as fast,” Mekies noted regarding the recovery. “He came forward from the rear. Great to see him fighting right back up there again.” The result allowed Red Bull to close the gap to McLaren by four points, bringing the difference between the two teams down to seven points.

Windtunnel Progress Fuels 2027 Optimism
Pointing to the steady developmental progress Red Bull achieved after a difficult start to the season, the reigning world champion expressed strong confidence in the team’s trajectory. Verstappen highlighted that unlike rival outfits currently wrestling with unpredictable updates, Red Bull’s recent technical upgrades have functioned precisely as simulated in the factory.

The team’s technical preparations for upcoming regulation cycles received another boost with the scheduled completion of a state-of-the-art windtunnel in mid-December. Verstappen noted that the new facility will permanently resolve historical correlation issues that plagued previous car configurations due to dimensional constraints.
