Marta Suárez joins Valencia Basket after passing medical exam

Marta Suárez is officially a Valencia Basket player for the next three seasons, until the 2028/29 season, after completing her mandatory medical examination at the Quirónsalud Medical Center in Valencia. The Spanish forward cleared the final administrative and physical hurdle required to join the club, arriving in Spain following her rookie WNBA season with the Phoenix Mercury and a summer developmental contract.

Medical clearance at Quirónsalud Clinic

Suárez successfully completed her physical and medical evaluations at the Quirónsalud Medical Center on Avenida Blasco Ibáñez. Dr. Vicente Sebastiá, head of medical services for Valencia Basket’s senior squads, oversaw the screening process alongside Dr. Catheline Lauwers, head of cardiology at the hospital.

Transition from Phoenix Mercury to the Taronja Project

The Oviedo-born player arrives in Valencia after making 19 appearances for the Phoenix Mercury during her debut WNBA campaign, having been selected 16th overall in the April draft. Before crossing the Atlantic, Suárez developed at the Siglo XXI academy and competed in the NCAA collegiate system across Tennessee, California, and Texas, where she posted averages of 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in her final collegiate stretch.

Valencia Basket Prepares for Meins Avenida and Fenerbahçe

Suárez joins a Valencia Basket squad that already secured the season’s opening trophy by winning the Supercopa, though the team dropped its league opener 88-71 away against Azulmarino Mallorca Palma. The club returns to domestic action hosting Meins Avenida, followed by its EuroLeague debut on October 14 at home against Fenerbahçe. Suárez spent her recent days off visiting her native Asturias, where she attended a Primera FEB fixture between Alimerka Oviedo and Granada before finalizing her registration with her new club.
